Just like last year it’s all coming down to the last stop in Obergurgl for Cody Bramwell to secure a spot at the Freeride World Tour.
His chances of qualifying to the World Tour suddenly disappeared last year at the final competition in Obergurgle. This year the same chance to qualify is back. With one competition left at the FWQ, Cody’s still in the lead, but he can’t be secure to qualify if he doesn’t perform a top three placement on Saturday. Pressure is on and Cody is obviously effected by it.
If Timm Shröder wins, I need to be top six. If Ludovic Guillot-Diat wins, I need to be top three."
– I’m super nervous. Last year I was in the exact same situation when I lost my way down the mountain. I hate that place, but this year I’ve already been scouting my line for a week to make sure that I’m well prepared. I have two competitors that could get a head of me if I fail. If Timm Shröder wins, I need to be top six. If Ludovic Guillot-Diat wins, I need to be top three, explains Cody.
Cody started his season in an amazing way with two wins from New Zealand and Montafonn, and a 4:th place from Les Arc. Then something happened in Nendaz,
– I took a way to easy line down at the qualification in Nendaz, which made me miss the final and the scores that I needed to secure my first place. In Obergurgl I’m going for more tricks, some middle big cliffs and a great last impression with something big. That’s my plan. I don’t want to end up on second place again! I´ve prepared a good playlist for my way up to keep my nerves in place. I really want this to work out!
